Carvell Holloway is currently the music director at Dominguez High School in Compton Unified School District. Prior to that, he taught at Davis Middle School for 17 years. He also taught brass instruments for the Compton Music Conservatory. As a performer he works on various recording projects and in many LA area churches including Holman UMC, First UMC of Inglewood, and Wesley UMC. Additionally, he’s performed with the LA Chamber Orchestra, Southeast Symphony, Bellflower Symphony, Palos Verdes Symphonic Band and the Jimmy McConnell Jazz Big Band. As a leader he started the Jazz/Hip Hop group Strokely which recorded for Rock a Mole records and the Carvell Holloway Jazz Group. As a past recipient and current committee member he works closely with the Dolo Coker Jazz Scholarship Foundation.
